2006

In the darkness I do lie

Liking the quiet of the night

As she reads a poem of a guy

Who’s not afraid of doing what’s right.

In my heart I yearn to be

As strong as the hero’s will

Whose spirit was unfettered and free

But whose love for parents were grander still.

Yet my  love hides within my soul

Afraid to break the chains.

But withholding my emotions has taken its toll

And for my parents only heartache remains.

So to these two people I write this poem

To let them know how happy I am.

Then love is greater than anything I’ve known

And it’s helping me become a woman
